NV Colour Chunky Eye Shadow Crayon Review

The NV Meadow Chunky Eyeshdaow Crayon* is a retractable twist up eyeshadow crayon that can be worn on it's own or as a 'base' for applying glitter or other shadows over the top. When NV got in touch with me and asked me if I wanted to try a few things from their range, I chose the crayon as I have a soft spot for green eyes and am looking for more ways to experiment.

As honesty is the only policy on My Pale Skin - I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this eye shadow crayon and expected slightly more from it. Although it has a beautiful colour, I found the quality left a little to be desired with crayon itself rattled around in the casing and after a few days, the crayon did actually fall straight out of the casing.

I tested the shadow out over a 2 day period once using the crayon over a neutral eyeshadow, and once straight onto the lid.I found the eyeshadow sadly creased both times. I'm not one for overly negative reviews, but as an honest blogger I find it necessary to point both of those things out.

October Favourites!

October is well and truly over and we're just that little bit closer to Christmas which makes me so excited. October was a great month. I made some new friends, got to dress up as Elsa for Halloween, tried and tested some new products and hit a new page views record on My Pale Skin. I wanted to share with you the products I've been loving this month, so in no particular order, here are my October Favourites.  

Ardell Demi Wispies Lashes

The Ardell Demi Wispies lashes are new favourites. They give glamour and volume to your lashes without being over the top or unnecessary. If you have hooded eyes like me, then these lashes may do well on your eyes. 

Urban Decay Electric Palette

I bought the Electric Palette back in July, and hadn't really used it that much since if i'm being honest... however, when I decided that I was going to dress up as Elsa for Halloween - I dug this palette out of the drawer and got to work trying to recreate her look. I love how easy this palette makes it to blend eyeshadow. The shades are so pigmented and glide like butter on the eyes. I just wish I was braver to wear it everyday.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics

The Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette is a great everyday wear. I love how pigmented the shadows are and how easy you can dress it up from day to night. It's a product I've found myself reaching for quite often and one i'm certainly glad I picked up.

L'oreal Wild Stylers-Next Day Hair

The next day hair spray is a product that I found myself reaching for most mornings in October... and if I couldn't find it - that was because my boyfriend had stolen it to use on his hair. It's a great product that you'll find yourself fighting to use in the morning.

Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Palette

Ever had love at first site with an eyeshdaow palette before? The Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Palette is quite possibly one of the most beautiful palettes i've laid my eyes on. I love the selection of shades and they're perfect for Autumn eyes... and don't forget to check out my Halo Smokey Eye Tutorial.

Ardell Wispies Lashes Review!

Lashes are a product that I seem to have an endless love hate relationship with. As a pale blonde girl with hooded eyes... there are few styles that I can wear and not look ridiculous. After much wasted time, effort and money I think I've finally found the perfect  set of lashes. The Ardell Demi Wispies for me give that perfect balance between the natural fluttery look, and evening glam-without the added ridiculous black spiders which look like they've  nested on your eyelids... yeah, you know what I mean! 

The lashes come without glue, which doesn't make a difference to me, as I only tend to use DUO glue. But if you don't have glue, it's something to bare in mind when purchasing.  Ialso must say that they're incredibly easy to apply and feel so natural you may even forget you're wearing them. 

I love everything about these lashes... so get ready to see them featured  in a lot more make up posts from now on.

L'oreal Wild Stylers, Next day Hair Spray Review

Have you ever had a hair product that was so good, your boyfriend stole it?  For me, the L'oreal Wild Stylers Next Day Hair* texture spray is that product. Now i'm not the type of girl who sprays endless products into her hair on a daily basis, because most of the time I see them doing more harm than good...  I have bleached hair so try to avoid products which will try and dry it our or potentially damage it even more and worse still... make it feel lank and greasy. 

Over the past year however, I've realised that hair does indeed look better the next day, be it curls, waves or whatever - with the exception of course on that salon fresh bouncy blowdry. But as i'm just a mere mortal and sadly don't live the life of Tamera Ecclestone, I've resulted to a few tricks to get my hair looking good, quickly.

To get the perfect amount of texture into my hair, fast - I blowdry my hair in a faily rough way to give it some  natural texture and then I give a good spritz of the L'oreal next day hair into the mid lengths and ends and kind of juz it in with my fingers...(juz is a technical term... right?) I find that using the product in this way means that my hair doesn't sit as flat, and generally looks like i've spent more than 2 minutes on my hair... which is always a good thing.

The BF likes to use it on his freshly washed hair as he is a man and doesn't appreciate the feeling of freshsly washed hair...(I KNOW!!) and finds that spritzing some of this in, helps him style it easier.

At £12.75 it's by no means cheap for a hair 'texture' spray... but is it worth it? The battle for the spray in the morning kind of speaks for itself...

Bourjois Quad Smoky Stories Collection

Bourjois are one of my absolute favourite drugstore brands. From blushers and eyeshadows to Mascara, chances are that on a daily basis i'm wearing at least one of their products... and when Bourjois have a new product released, you betcha that i'm excited to see what it is.

The Boujois Quad Smokey Stories collection* contains 8 different mini eyeshadow palettes that each feature 3 cream to powder shades and a shimmering glitter which can be worn to accent in the corners of the eyes, or even dabbed over your finished eye look for a bit more glamour.

At the Blogger Event last week I was lucky enough to see the entire collection, have a play with the colours and get to know these eyeshadows a little better. I was also kindly gifted 4 of them to play with and I can't wait to show you guys some looks created using them! 

Grey  & Night: Is a gorgeous collection of satin silver shades. Perfect for day to night smokey eye look.

Over Rose: A romatic collection of rosy shadows which I think would make the perfect first date make up!

Rock This Khaki: A collection of autumnal green eyeshadows which I fell in love with instantly. There's something about these shadows that I just adore.

Good Nude: The most understated of the 4, potentially great as an everyday shadow palette and that glitter may just be the thing which sets it apart from others.

Disney's Frozen: Elsa Make up Tutorial.

The first time I watched Frozen, I fell in love and when the invite to the Halloween party of the year landed in my inbox, there was only one person I saw myself dressing up as - Elsa.

I had such an overwhelming response to my Elsa costume I wore to the #AsDarknessFalls party and i'm not even joking when I say I was inundated with emails asking how I did it. I've recreated my look for you, and created my Disney's Frozen Elsa Make up tutorial... in a GRWM style as I felt that was a little more fitting to her character and something I've wanted to play about with. I really hope you enjoy it, feel like this one took forever to edit, but I had fun doing it and can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Dealing with Hate and Criticism

It doesn't matter who you are, or what you do in life, it's inevitable that people will hate you. And I know that sounds harsh and unfair.. but it's true. I always grew up understanding that fact and knowing that not everybody will be nice, friendly or kind towards me. I built a mental defense and barrier to keep negativity out of my mind... although often sadly at the expense of keeping positivity away too.

As I got older, and after having some horrible life experiences thrown at me, I adapted and did my best to try and move on. I guess I built a mind frame of expecting negativity as I'd much rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed... I had it in my head that if you constantly expect the worst, then it makes the good times better...

However, what changed that mind frame for me, is blogging. It has truly given me a new lease of life and helped lift my confidence and spirits and in the 9 months I've been blogging... I've been lucky to only be see the positive side of the community and feel nothing but warmth...

That was, until I was messaged a link to a page with hundreds of comments tearing me apart. And as much as I'd love to say that it didn't bother me, that I laughed it off... and carried on... it got to me.
It took me to a place I didn't want to go and i've struggled to look at my blog all week because of it.

I work full time, and put in every spare minute into my blog. It has beome a part of me and as it grows, I'm growing with it. It makes me sad to think that I let insignificant people get to me, and missed posting because of it. When I started My Pale Skin, I didn't start it as a place to have a 'pale pissing contest' or claim to be the 'most pale girl' in the world and as dumb as that sounds...some people take great pride in themselves to try and argue how pale they are in comparison to me... which is quite frankly ridiculous.

I started this blog as a place where I'd like to become confident in my own skin - physically and mentally. A place where we enhance ourselves, rather than mask it with tan and fakery... and a place to share tips on what is working for me. This blog is a place of honesty.. where it's okay to have a bad day and it doesn't matter if you don't have perfect skin.. or perfect hair. This is a place where I can just be me.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, this blog is a big learning curve for me and one which I adore writing... and having let some bullies get to me this week and miss a few days posting... I apologize.

So welcome to November, where I'm aiming to post 5 blog posts and 1 video per week... and work on my self confidence. Although we cant change other people, we can change ourselves and I'm going to do my best to make this month a good one.
